The club has room for a few more members, but not many because there are only two courts in the school. , Most evenings. play is distinctly uncompetitive. Like many other activities around Maple that make residents there proud of their little piece of heaven, the club was started by the Maple Area Recreation Committee. It is now under the wing of the Vaughan Recreation Department and is kept running from week to week by the one-woman executive Joan Lines of 31 Lancer Drive. The Maple Badminton Club is now four years old and has about 20 members. They meet each Tuesday evening at the George Bailey Public School for a few sets. But a small group of devotees in Maple are not worried about the relative obscurity of this pastime. They just play for fun. On December 10. a good turnout of 16 members enjoyed the evening with Mary Norcliffe taking home first prize. Marilyn Ireland was second and Rina Dierx took home the low score prize.
