They’re grand champions of the Clarkson Atom Hockey Tournament by way of winning all five of their games including the big final one which saw them come from behind a 1â€"0 deficit to upend Clarkson 3- Hooray for the Richmond Hill Bone Fencing Atom Enroute to that “biggie they bounced Erindale 5-: edged Cedar Hill 2-] decisioned Rexdale 3-1, an then ripped a stron Agincourt team 5â€"4 to wi the “A” championship an then ripped a strong Agincourt team 5-4 to win the “A” championship and qualify for the grand championship one against Clarkson. That game saw Richmond Hill do battle with benefit of just an hour‘s rest against consolation winning Clarkson. The first period was scoreless but a tired Rich- mond Hill team found itself behind 1-0 at the halfway mark of the second period with Coach Richard Hughes changing lines at every opportunity. ,1 ‘4 Richmond Hill seemed to get its second wind at the start of the third period and dominated play. It paid off as Stephen Rockarts tied the game on an unassisted effort and then Mark Stevens scored the winning on an assist from Ken Jensen. Pull goalie Clarkson pulled its goalie in the final minute but the strategy backfired as Mark Joslin grabbed a loose puck and put it into the empty net. Assists went to Doug Rae and Carl Boyle. They dropped a narrow 3-2 game to Preston in their first match in a thriller with Stephen Quigg picking up both Richmond Hill goals. Eric Mabley drew an assist on one of the goals. Also playing an outstanding game was Bill Todd. Richmond Hill’s opening game 5-2 win over Erindale was inspired by stars of the game Mark Stevens, Ken Jensen.
