An exhibit of wall- hangings by Mrs. Gweneth Caldwell of Elgin Mills Road, Richmond Hill, opened at Gibson House in Willowdale Saturday and will be on display until February 2. Mrs. Caldwell began her craft work with the hooking of rugs. To perfect her art she has taken several short courses at the Rittermere studios in Vineland in the Niagara Peninsula. She dyes and bleaches her own material, chiefly wool, and has developed the medium into a‘ distinctive art form. Her subjects include landscapes, animals and birds, especially owls. She concentrates her in- terest toward endangered species, and in the stance and mien of her presen- tations she manages to make a direct appeal to the observer.
