Mr. and Mrs. Snider, along with other WI members from Ontario. travelled to Perth. Australia, to attend the Conference of the Associated Country Women of the World. This is the world group of rural women's organizations including the WI. Mrs. Snider gave a talk on the various sessions of the conference and showed slides taken on the trip. A panel discussion by ladies from several coun- tries was held. Among the subjects discussed were lamily living, pollution and conservation. Around the world in 40 days is a trip members of Edgely Women’s Institute. along with their husbands. took at their January meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Snider. Mrs. Snider said the people from other countries seemed to have the same problems we have in Canada. Solving them is the big concern. After the conference Mr. and Mrs. Snider travelled to South Africa to visit relatives there. They visited a national park where the wild animals live in their natural surroundings With the park left in its natural state‘ the animals blend into the natural background. making it a little difficult to detect them. Once a month for two hours, assistance is needed to sort clothing. A used clothing sale is planned for March, so now is the time to spring clean your closets. Country tours From the conference the visitors were taken on tours ‘of the country. enjoying the many wild flowers. since it was springtime in Australia. A visit to a sheep ranch‘ which consisted of up to 5,000 acres‘ made our 100â€" ucre’ farms appear like child's play. Mrs. Snider reported. Live in huts The Canadians saw grass huts where some of the people live. The Ontario group travelled across Canada to Vancouver and on to Honolulu under the leadership of Dean Hughes, a very pleasant but ï¬ring trip. After the program a draw was held with James Darlington being the win- ner. The February meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles Summerfeldt, 3 Abell Avenue. Wood- bridge. Many of those attending had brought along their copies of Audrey's book to be autographed and it turned out to be a most relaxed and congenial event. Lunch was served by the committee in charge and members viewed the many souvenirs brought back by the Sniders. Marilyn Wilson, cam- paign chairman, attributes Maple’s great success in the past to the enthusiasm the executive and canvassers display in getting the job done and also to g the generosity of residents and industry in the area. Grant Henderson has been appointed chairman of the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, it was announced last week by Ontario Premier William Davis.
