20 â€" THE LIBERAL, Wednesday, Mar. 5, 1975 Novice Paul Howorth with a hat trick led Bob‘s Boys to a 6-1 win over City Wide Rentalls. Ron Gelineau came up with a pair and Mike Osborne with one tally. Assist points went to Jamie McGee, Chris Saul, Eddie Semitz, Scott Steckley and Mark LeClair. In a solo effort Gino Dioidacchino sank the puck for City Wide. Paul Joslin scored twice to give Galaxy Restaurant a 2-0 win over Bob’s Boys. James Barry got an assist. City Wide defeated Allencourt Pharmacy 2-0 as Jamie Hill and Scott Boyle hit the twine with help from Dioidacchino and John Reme. Bob' 5 Boys defeated City Wide 1â€"0 March 1 as Chris Saul sank a Paul Howorth pass. , Galaxy Restaurant blanked Allencourt to the tune of 6-0 as Ralph Ceybold netted the rubber twice Andy Walton Kelly Thorpe Paul Joslin and Stephen Ceballo once. Paul Joslin had two assists, James Barry and Stephen Laird one each. Allencourt shutout Galaxy 2-0 February 27. as Glen Harding and Jim Anderson scored. Shawn Gallaugher‘ Ken Nobes and George Benczik aided. Vito Scalisi garnered his fourth shutout of the season. Atom Allencourt Pharmacy squeezed past Knapp‘s Paints to take a 4-3 win as Pat Morra came up with two goals and an assist, Jimmy Madden with a goal and an assist, Bill Tsotsos with a goal and Todd Sears. Carman Morra and Tim Woodger with a helper each for the victors. Jimmy Lazenby was unaided on two goals for Knapps and Ken Lennox was set up by Norman Creasor and Darren Barry on the other. Brian Dunnett and Wayne Cardwell shared the Con- sumers Gas counters with Dan Thompson aiding each as their team defeated Braddock Optical 2-1. Mike Goldsmith scored the Braddock goal without help. Marksmen for Dan's Esso in its 3-1 win over Kinnear Pontiac were Brian Delville, Tony Murinelli and Robbie Apenis. Rick Murphy was awarded two assist points and Apenis one Derek G u/lo Peewees lose opener Gullo Enterprise Peewees opened the best of three series with Bradford in the first round of the York Simcoe playoffs in Bradford February 20. Bradford won this first game 3-1. Bradford got the only goal of the first period but Gullo Enterprise tied the score at 8:37 of the second period when their opponents were Shorthanded through a tripping penalty. Heinz Losberg netted the puck with Shawn McDowell and Mike Hegenauer assisting on the goal. With just 58 seconds left in the game and the score; tied at one apiece. the referee awarded Bradford a penalty shot claiming a Richvale player fell on the puck in the crease. Bradford scored on the penalty shot. Goalie Gullo was pulled in favor of an extra attacker but Bradford withstood the pressure and scored into the empty net in the dying seconds for a three to one win and a one game lead in the playoffs. Little NHL Tourney It was back to Bradford on the following night to play in the Little NHL Hockey Tournament against Aurora in the first game. but Aurora failed to show and the game was rescheduled for Saturday morning at 11. when Gullo Enterprise went down to a 3-1 defeat, Aurora scored first but Gullo Enterprise netted the puck to tie the score only to have the goal disallowed when the referee called a high sticking penalty. They finally did tie the score at 14:17 of the second period when McDowell sank a Losberg pass. Gwillam (2), Richard Shannon, Darrel Bynoe, Harold Thornhill (2) and Marc Lockerbie. Scoring for Hodgins were Adrian Steenson with two, Paul Ohlis and Bruce Morrison, with Dave Ezechiels helping on two goals and Steenson on one. Fred’s Towing defeated Barrows’ Insurance 3-1 as Adam Cox, Steve Irwin and David Giles each scored once and helped once. Brian Cox and Lorne Baxter also got assist points. Jackie Woods sank a Brian Hull pass for Barrow‘s tally. It was a big day for Kevin Robin and Bobby Petrolf as BAIF beat Charlton Hard- ware 8-2. Petroff had a five point dayâ€"one goal and four assistsâ€"and Robin got four points for his four goals. John Farrell scored twice and John Hughes once with Hughes and Steve Semple getting assists. Ken Large scored unassisted for Charlton and Fred Simpson was set up by George D‘Antimo and Kevin Lee. Peewee A hat trick by Glen Dunford, a pair by Michael Garrett and a single by Doug Wood gave Eric's Sports a 6-3 win over Shields Footwear. Dunford, Garrett. Warren Coomb‘s. Sieve MacDonald. Chris Stewart and Bruce Rutledge provided help. Mike Smith, Stephen Bialkowski and Brad McKenzie were the scorers for Shields with James Mitchell getting a helper. Simm's Construction and Dynes Jewellers fought to a 5â€"5 draw. Sharing the Simm’s goals were Gary Boyle. Paul Lawlor, Matt Knight. Stuart Petrie and Mike Mulvihill with assist points going to Dan Gooley, Petrie, Mulvihill and Scott McLean. Bryan Buchan contributed a pair, Russell Thompson, Robert Tucker and Doug Eldridge a goal each for Dynes with Leslie Alliston at 3:30 the same day on the consolation side of the tournament. Alliston win- ning 3-2 in overtime to eliminate Richvale. Wayne McLellan opened the scoring for Richvale at 5:41 of the first period unassisted. Alliston tied the score at 9:20 of the opening period and went ahead by one goal in the second period. With just 18 seconds left in regulation time Richvale pulled their goalie and iced six attackers which paid off with they tying goal. McDowell stickhandled in and beat the Alliston goalie with a high shot to the upper corner on his glove side. This finished off a passing play from Losberg and John Adams. Alliston scored the win- ning goal at 6:57 of the overtime game. Midgets Harold Simpson came up with a hat trick to account for Richvale‘s scoring as Woodbridge took the contest eight goals to three in the third round of the playoffs. Earning assists for Richvale were John Mariciak. Tony Caranci and Rick Binden In a high-scoring. battle to the finish Woodbridge edged Richvale‘s Northtown Transmission 8-7 February 27. The Richvale players retained their team spirit all the way and didn’t give up. Marksmen for Northtown were Bill Cromb. Harold Simpson and GaryLangfield with a pair of counters each and Tony Caranci with one. Assist points went to Simpâ€" son. Langfield ' and Pat Hudema with two each, and Rick Binder. This left Richvale down 2- 1 in the best of five games series. Another hat trick by Glen Dunford helped Eric’s Cycle to defeat Tony’s Esso 8-3. Ed Opatowski added a pair, Michael Garrett, Steve MacDonald and Chris Stewart singletons with help being given by MacDonald, Stewart, Doug Wood. Steve Rice, Dan Wright and Dunford. Russell Thornhill hit the target twice for Tony‘s and Alan Plitong once, assists going to Ray Barnett, Plitong and Mike Bell. Simms Construction defeated Shields Footwear 6â€"2 on a hat trick by Brad McKenzie and singles by Kevin Luckasavitch, Jason Bailey and Mike Smith. Assist points were earned by Lee Truss and Alden Palisca with two each, Stephen Bailkowski and Luckasavitch. Shields' goal came from the stick of Bill Neilson who sank a pass from Dan Gooley, and Gary Boyle from David Corless. Eric's Sports blanked Dynes Jewellers 5-0 as Dunford got his third hat trick in as many games. Dan Wright and Dave Wood scored once each and Cam Moss (2). Steve MacDonald and Chris Stewart helped. Minor Bantam Scoring for the winners in Rotary‘s 5-1 win over Pirri’s Fruit Market were Glen Fehily, Allen Lynden, Bruce Buchan, Tom Stubbs and Troy Chatfield Active in the assist department Buchan and Shawn McKenzie had two, Scott Campbell Derek Moulton and Fehily one each. Howie Hill was the Pirri Sharpshooter being set up by Mark Brooker and Dennis Kane. Midget Little Fords defeated BAIF 8-6 as Eric Thompson wielded the big stick for five goals. Al Thomas, Ian Forsythe and Mark Wilson scored once each. Dave Brooke and Scott Bull had two helpers each. Wilson, Larry McGee and Randy Watson one each. For Bowden the rubber was netted by Tim Cameron twice, Doug Williams, Zenio Ferrone and Doug Williams once. Ferrone also got four assist points for a night’s total of five. Dave Stockall, Frank Alisch and Lou Reid also assisted. Kents’ goals came from the sticks of Sean Gentry with two, Ed Evison, Richard Thompson and Tim Polhamus. Polhamus also had three assist points, Gentry, Thompson. Craig Clack and Bob Golding one each. For Baif Gord Sinfield came up with a pair of counters, Glenn Sparrow, Kyle Chatfield and Paul Henderson with one each. John Peden collected two assist points, Mike Turback, Henderson and Scott Menard one each.
