Minor soccer season opens in Hill May 20 Opening games of the 1975 Richmond Hill and District Minor Soccer Association are tentatively slated for May 20 with evening games scheduled for each division. lt’s expected by kickoff time that a total of 400 girls and boys will have been registered. Coupled with 250 players from the newly amalgamated Aurora area, it's expected to be a best ever season of soccer. Formation of the teams is‘ now in progress and all registered players should be receiving word from the respective coaches in the very near future. If no word has been received by the end of April. contact should be made to a member of the executive or league con- venor. These three area pretties will be doing their thing in the upcoming Ice Fantasia '75 which opens Friday, Saturday and Sunday courtesy of the Unionville Skating Club. FOR BOYS AND GIRLS AGES 9 TO 15 Fellowships valued at $1,000 each, are available to students wishing to continue post-secondary education in French for 1975-76. $1,000 postâ€"secondary fellowships in French This federally funded program, administered by the Province of Ontario, offers 300 fellowships to eligible applicants on the basis of academic merit. Also available is a supplement of $1,000 for any student registering in a program not offered in French at a French- language or bilingual in- stitution within 35 miles of his or her permanent residence. Seneca College Sports Centre will be the scene May 6 of a badminton encounter between the Peoples Republic of China and the Canadian National team. Game time is 7:30 pm. The Canadian team will be picked from the recent championships held in Ottawa, March 26 to 30. Sponsoring the event will be the Ontario Badminton Association in conjunction with Seneca College on Finch Street West, near Woodbine Avenue. Millie Allison of Unionville was the winner, with Lillian Kraggs of Board of Trade second and Doris Vance of Richmond Hill third. Joyce Sargent of Bayview won the second event with Barb courage students to enter full-time post-secondary studies in French in any discipline. ‘ Eligible‘institutions in- clude all French-language and bilingual universities in Canada and bilingual colleges of applied arts and technology in Ontario. Eligible applicants may not have been full time students in a post-secondary program in which French was the language team will also compete against the Canadian team in such centres as Moncton. Quebec City, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver.
