An international concrete canoe race will be held this Saturday at Lake Seneca on the King campus of Seneca College north-east of King City on Dufferin Street. This year's event will see 30 concrete craft of all descriptions representing colleges and universities throughout Eastern Canada and the United States. This tour- nament attracted some of the best bowlers in the country with some bowlers coming from as far away as Edmonton and New Brun- swick. This is the biggest money tournament for the bowlers and I know John Martin would like to con- tinue this event, but he needs the support of the bowlers. 300 Classic On Sunday bowlers from around the York Simcoe zone got together to bowl in the 300 Classic. To qualify bowlers needed to have bowled a 300 game with or without handicap. Then during the third week in March bowlers then tried to qualify in a league roll-off. Each league was allowed to send one bowler for every ten that had bowled a 300. A total of 116 bowlers attended the finals at A.B.C. Bowl. Steve Wicklum came first with a great score of 952 for three games. Steve's choice for a prize was a silver tray. Next came Jim Davidson 919 pots and pans, Susan Philips 913 pots and pans, Pauline McNaught blender, Florence White 885, Jim Baker 884 pots and pans, Paul O’Beirn 876 pop comer, Donald Rettenger 854 blender and Terry Buller- well 849 foam shaver round out the top ten. Every bowler received a prize and the prizes were furnished by the York Simcoe Bowlers Association. There was no entry fee for this tournament except that you needed to have bowled a 300 game.The Y.S.B.A. would like to thank all the bowlers who are Y.S.B.A. members.
