Baif girls rally to tie series Richmond Hill lost the opener 5-3. Thursday's game at the town park saw the Rich- mond Hill Swingers finally arrive after a big fourth inning and those seven runs. The girls also came up with a better fielding effort especially from some of the key players. This game saw Vicky Robinson start things with a single followed by Sue O’Connell with another single. Barnett also singled: A Lauren MacInnis kept it going with a single and Darlene Nelson then hit a long triple. This was the Swingers’ big inning which clinched the game. Darline, as well as hit- ting, pitched a steady game. Les McCleave, the Swingers’ catcher, then belted the first pitch into deep centre for a standup double. Richmond Hili downfall I was happy to learn that during my fishing trip Ken Ham had held two sessions with the coaches, which were most successful and rewar- ding. These meetings stressed treatment of injured players and were conducted by Jack Williams and Bill Chatwell. Bill, of course, has a fine background and is currently trainer of Dynes Jewellers. The board of directors for both economic and uniformity ii;;iiiii(iiiiii{{ii(8ii{{'(i(i{iiii§{l{l{{i6885838588g@ reasons have made the following decisions: Helmets this year will have to be purchased by the players. These will be CCM and black in color. The choice of black is for uniformity as is the choice of CCM, one of two approved helmets. A helmet is a very personal piece of equipment and must be perfectly fitted. We feel that this will be insured by having the players purchase their own. Sweaters this year will be green, as in the past, and second teams will be wearing green as well in cases where new equipment is purchased.
