It is produced by York- minstrels, one of Canada‘s finest musical theatre groups. York- minstrels produce musicals only twice yearly but usually stage dazzlingly effective shows with a full or- chestra, lavish sets and marvellously appropriate costumes. Shades of Cyrano The play in some respects is similar in plot to the famous play of Cyrano de Bergerac where benign duplicity resulted in a woman falling in love with the wrong man. This time it is a wealthy Italian living in California who gets his younger foreman to vicariously woo a young waitress by letter on his behalf. But this is a simplification of the plot. With a cast of over 60, and an orchestra of 30 players, the audience can expect some tremendous choral work in the scenes â€"â€" such as the wedding party â€" where the full power of the group can be ‘used.
