Changes coming Change has eaten away at the Buttonville at- mosphere over the past year, and particularly during the last five years. About the only things which remained static were Brown’s Corners Church and Buttonville women’s institute hall. Church services are still held every Sunday, with Rev. Allen Hallett at the helm; and at the hall,‘ the euchre crowds con- tinue to come on bi- weekly Fridays. through autumn and winter game series. The present series began Jan. 2 and con- tinues on Jan. 16. The once popular quilting bee; is _no more: The Sunday bustle at Knob Hill Farms market and other shops in the area is cooling, now that the province has in- troduced a new Sunday and holiday closing rule. Knob Hill extended its store in 1975 to about double the merchandizing area at Don Mills and No. 7 Hwy â€" (which reminds me â€" Don Mills Road is now called Woodbine Avenue. under a new dictum issued by the region!) The Norman Reid house is gone from the northwest corner, and the old Walton home no longer sits at the side of the road near the Mill outlet. It has been torn down, and a block of shops stands in its place. The donut shop on the west' side of Woodbine south of No. 7 introduced a tasty new confection to the neighbourhood early in 1975 with the best cup of coffee in town, and an official plaque to prove it. 8-10 â€"- THE LIBERAL. Wednesday. Jan. 7, 1976 The Parkway Inn, at No. 7 and Leslie got a large addition last year, and its dining room is now listed in the gourmet section of the Star’s TV guide. The Robinson farm is no more. The Robinsons have moved to Brooklin and about the only family farm operations left in the neighborhood are the Burrs and Ashton Calvert in North Buttonville, the Leeks and the Lees on Leslie Street. buttOnvillq The extension at the town offices in Buttonville proper has changed the landscape there, and the police office has been moved to Richmond Hill. The works yard is also moved to a site south of No. 7 Hwy, and only rows and rows of cars line the new parking lot in the village. There were four generations at the Kenneth Stots’ home to celebrate New Year’s Day. Their guests were son Milford and his family, with grandson Gordon, his wife and small son, the Stots' great grand- son. There is still conâ€" troversy over proposed expansion at Buttonville airport, and residents still meet to discuss the question. But over the years the faces change as some move out and others move in.
