All-day session to give Canadian drama once over Whether there is a distinctive Canadian theatre and has it found its public? How does theatre fit into Canadian society, and how much? Is a national theatre possible? Is it desirable? What is the ideal com- munity for the theatre, and what kind of relationships do or ought to exist between com- munities and theatres? The all-day session, which is sponsored by University College Alumnae Association, will discuss such questions as: T O R O N T O â€" “Changing Theatre in Our Societyâ€, a sym- posium on Canadian theatre, will be held at Hart House Theatre, University of Toronto, March 6. A distinguished panel will discuss the subjects and will also appear in individual speaking roles in both the morning and afternoon sessions. The morning speakers include: playwright and theatre founder, Tom Hendry; children‘s theatre producer, Susan Rubes; actor and director, John Neville. Colonel Sanders and ms boys make Thousands of people from all over southern Ontario converge yearly on the tiny village of Kleinburg to attend the Annual Binder Twine Festival; throughout the year, shoppers with an eye for crafts have come to browse through the specialty shops that line the main street. In addition to these attributes and Pierre Berton, Kleinburg can boast one of the region's finest places to dine out: The Doetor‘s House and Livery restaurant and tavern. On entering the new Livery building, we were escorted by a wench dressed in a peasant blouse and skirt, to a large table for two, in- timately situated along one wall. Once seated, we reviewed the wine and cocktail list, and ordered aperatifs of a vodka gimlet and a Lowenbrau beer. The dinner menu has so many mouth-watering delights to choose from, our selection was difficult to make. GoingtoPot To begin, we ordered the Daily Pot, being Scotch broth soup the day we went; we found it to be a thick broth with a delicious flavor, at 75 cents. My companion and I both selected meals from The Hunters’ Spoil part of the menu, with her choice being the Ontario pheasant, sauteed in clarified butter and basted with a thick coating of heavy cream, at $11.70. Vegetables were beets, creamed cauliflower, baked potato and sour cream, gar- nished with chives. She found the game bird a little overdone, but tender, rich in flavor, and a larger portion than she could eat at one sitting.
