According to Mrs. Collins, one of the most popular workshops in recent years has been the subject of theatrical makeup. The workshops are taught by professional actors and theatre technicians and are arranged according to the group’s interests. Cheeseborough-Ponds lawn bowling tournament at Markham Lawn Bowling Club on George St. will be held Aug. 7 at 1:30 pm. This is an invitational tournament of 22 teams. including guests from Toronto, Streetsville, Agincourt and Ancaster. The tournament is mixed trebles, meaning that teams are composed of two women and one man, or two men and one woman. Spectators are invited to the tournament. and everyone is invited to come out to the club Tuesdays or Thursdays at 7 p.m. to give lawn bowling a try. Equipment is provided and there is no charge for the evening. Cheeseborough-Ponds makes a cash donation which is divided and awarded to winning teams. Every participant in the tournament also receives a gift of the company‘s products. ‘ Thé club has a mem- bership of about 70 per- sons. According to member Aubrey DeGuerre, the club is very active. and 13 constantly involved in tournament play. Many more tour- naments are planned for the season, including events Aug. 15, Sept. 19 and 29. Annual membership few are $20 for men and $12 for women. As June Collins, a member of the group, explains, “Theatre is like an iceberg, three-fifths of which is under water." The group now has about 30 very active, very enthusiastic members, not all of whom will be seen on stage. Many members of the Little Theatre seem to find their best means of expression in creating scenery and sets, lighting effects, costumes, and defining characters through the use of makeup.
