She then attended Brampton High School, receiving her second class certificate and was required to teach three years before attending normal school. But since there was no room for her in the high school she had to wait until September 1880 before starting her secondary school studies. She received her third class certificate in 1884 and then attended Brampton Model School where she earned a teacher’s certificate good for four years.
