Cleanerswin Other OMHA action THORNHILL â€" Karen Newton, a Grade 13 student at Thornlea Secon- dary School, spent her summer teaching water-skiing. Pretty cushy job, eh? Not really. Karen worked at Lake Joseph, about 24 miles south of Parry Sound, where the CNIB has a holiday centre. All her students were blind. “It‘s like a family lodge," says Karen. “Almost anything any other camp would do, we would do." Activities included hiking, swim- ming, dancing. crafts and even a ham radio operation. Second summer It was Karen’s second summer at the camp and especially important to her because she was promoted from the position of counsellor to become the assistant head of water-skiing.
