Open season on Hokere/ TORONTO â€" The open season for Lake Nipissing pickerel during 1977, 1978 and 1979 will begin the Wednesday following the Victoria Day weekend and will continue to Mar. 15, Natural Resources Minister Leo Bernier announced. In 1977, the season will open May 25 and close Mar. 15, 1978. Bernier emphasized the need for uniformity in the open season during the next few years while biological assessment of the fishery and its regulatory control is being conducted.
