Hill High impresses at ’Winz‘er Carnival’ Yea Our Senior Girls’ Volleyball team won its games Feb. 3 against Thornhill; and against Bayview Feb. 8. In the game against Thornhill, we won the first and third games, the score being 15- 2 both times. At Bayview, we won the last two games. Congratulations! For the seventh time in nine years, our men teachers won the Broomball competition. The Year Three frog, Year Four, cannon, and Year Five, car snow sculptures all came in first. RHHS can be proud of itself. As for the Junior team‘ they also beat Bayview, winning the first two games. The Winter Carnival is over, and, all in all, RHHS fared quite well; Two of our Snow Princesses - Sam Markham and Julie Wells - came runner-up- first and second respectively. Boys‘ Basketball team played Markham, at Markham, losing 53-46. Jim Croke earned us 16 points, Mark Girdler, 22 points. Skiing Lately, RHHS has seemed rather empty, for there have been many field trips. On Feb. 2, Year Two’s went skiing at Mt. St. Louis. The students could pick either downhill or cross- country. Then on Feb. 8, the Year Three’s and Year Four's went to Mt. St‘ Louis. The weather was good and after an energetic day. we returned tired and happy. The Law classes have visited the Law Courts recently, watching the court in action. They went to see the proceedings as they run in a Supreme Court on Feb. 8. It was an interesting Day. Trotman president Heading the new league will be president Les Trotman of Richmond Hill. Trotman has been associated with the Richmond Hill Minor Soccer Association as an executive member since its formation in 1968. He has served under four presidents, Rob Kernohan, John Elliott, Alan Beckwith and Ed Kenny. Founding member He is one ofthe association’s founding members (along with Rob Kernohan) and feels the new league “is a good thing because it will allow other areas to become involved in competitive soccer and so upgrade soccer skills in these other areas." The new league will be involved with the annual Adidas Skills Contest. Cup Competition and the Ontario Cup. Strong exec.
