Cathy Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nelson, won the public speaking contest for Grades VII in Crosby Heights Sr. Public School. She spoke on the hazards of tobacco and smoking. Kelly Benson won the trophy for the public speaking contest at Jefferson Public School. He won first prize in the Haydn Sonata in D flat for 18 years and under, and third prize in the Beethoven Class for 21 years and under. He placed fourth in some other classes. We feel David deserves a great deal of credit for stich fine results among the older competitors.
