Domik, Webster toss shutouts! I wdn‘t be in it unless I can drive the course. The simple reason is that I pulled a ham sfring muscle the other night during a brisk stroll to the washroom. Honestly, I don‘t think it was the stroll that did it. A few nights ago I made an impetuous dash up 12 flights of stairs which just about wrecked me. The trip did psychological damage to me as well as physical. When I got to the top I found out they were the wrong stairs. Things like this can affect your morale. But I still think it‘s a great idea for all you healthy people out there in Richmond Hill, Thornhill, and even Locust's Hill. So I'll provide some details on the big jog-a-thon. Mark Poray, director of Physical Education at the Richmond Hill Y. tells me "jogging is fast becoming the most popular individual recreation in Canada.“ No slouches He adds that “the people in Rich- mond Hill are no slouches when it comes to picking up theBanner for fitness. “At one time it was very rare to see someone jogging on our streets but now it's very common to see people of all ages dressed in sweat suits or shorts running around town in the name of health." states Poray. Back to the jog-a-thon. The challenge The members of the Y health club are challenging anyone and everyone who can walk or run to participate in the 20 kilometre event. That‘s 12 miles. I believe. Participate As Poray puts it: “The whole point of this event is not to win although there are some awards. Participation is the key. We want to get people involved in something that is its own reward as well as helping to support the Y." The Y is welcoming entries of four person teams or individuals.
