Among the Lambton delegation was the member of Parliament for West Lambton. The result was the 1600 people on the train arrived in London just as the Royal Train was leaving. The leftover sand- wiches and cookies were piled into clothes baskets and tbssed into a truck which took off for home. Some parents picked up their children. But somebody goofed in Stratford and despatched the train two hours late, So it went through Parkhill westward to pick up the youngsters and adults in Lambton County at the time it should have been going east. It was a very glum group of 300 or so who ate a sandwich. cookie and lemonade lunch on the grounds of a United Church, and then headed back for the train. Since most youngsters had never had a train ride, they opted for that means of transportation, even though their parents were driving into the city. Those that could paid, those that couldn’t came along anyway since the cost for the return trip was only 40 cents for 12 and under and 80 cents for adults.
