Sayers to Order Couns wanted Chairman of the executive committee of the York Central Branch, Mr. Sayers has been involved with the local St. John for about eight years. Harry Sayers of Starlight Crescent, Rich- mond Hill, is to be ad- mitted to the Order of St. John-Priory of Canada at an Ottawa investiture later this year. A steering committee of 6 residents and a handful of others plan to blitz the neighborhood and collect the signatures within the coming week. Nazneen Sadiq Correspondent 881-4408 An all out effort is being made by the residents of Bayview Fairways subdivision, to have three tennis courts constructed by the town of Markham at Duncan Park. 330 signatures will be needed for a petition which will be submitted in a brief to the town Council. A spokesman for the vaughan Parks and Recreation Department said the idea of “the day is to get the various communities to work together to put on such a program with the Town acting in a supervisory capacity." Vaughan Director of Recreation Paul Wilson heads the Vaughan Day Advisory Committee; The action starts at 10 am. and runs through to 3 pm. at the Maple Arena, Community Centre and Park. “Vaughan Day" will be preceded Friday with swimming events at the Woodbridge Pool. Music will be provided by the Eddie Gresko Orchestra. Included in the program will be sack races, egg spooning and other recreational pur~ suits for the small fry. The occasion is also being celebrated with the sale of “Vaughan Day" T- shirts available for $3 at the Vaughan Parks and Recreation offices at Maple. Winding up the day will be a dance Saturday night at the Maple Arena from 9 to 1 am. Tickets are $6 per person and include a buffet. Any youngster or adult wishing to participate may do so by registering at the Maple Arena Saturday morning at 9. I'EART FUND‘Q Hub of the day-long sports parade will be Maple with a myriad of events taking place ranging from tennis, soccer. volleyball, tug-of- war, softball, to track and field events. Youngsters from 8 to 80 will be doing their thing next Saturday at the second annual Vaughan Day sports program involving the com- munities of Maple, Thornhill, Concord, Woodbridge and Klein- burg.
