Allen named to committee on values Former York County board of education chairman Douglas Allen of Richmond Hill has been named to the board’s special com- mittee on values education. The appointment was made in a motion by Trustee Eric Baker of Richmond Hill and ap- proved by the board June 27. Allen was appointed to replace Hugh Griffith of Newmarket, who is moving to Edmonton. An attempt by Trustees Bob McMonagle and John Stephens of Markham, to defer the motion until July 11. was defeated. The two had argued that, when an ap- pointment is to be made from the public, all members of the board should be notified in plenty of time beforehand, and “not just a select few.“ mll Board buying two sites for schools Just like everything these days, the York Region Roman Catholic separate school board is preparing for future growth.
