Wednesday, July 27, 1977 Steve Cox of Richmond Hill never got around to playing tennis until he was 16 years old because he was “too interested in hockeyâ€. That's why he’ll never know whether he could have gone on to make it in US. college circles by way of a hockey scholarship, It doesn‘t matter. He got there anyway. On a tennis scholarship. The 21-year-old Cox has just completed two years at Seminole Community College in Florida where he did “pretty wellâ€. His record includes a total of 46 wins against 19 losses; he was twice player of the year in Division 2. twice Florida singles runner-up; and he won the prestigious Cocoa Beach Tournament in 1976; plus numerous other victories against topâ€" flight competition.
