There will be plenty of soloists when York Philharmonic Choir opens its season Nov, 6 at Richmond Hill United Church. YP Choir At that time the choir will present Sir John A. Sullivan's Oratorio, “The Prodigal Son," directed by its regular conductor, Edward F. Luka. Appearing from Toronto will be Mervyn Pickering, who is studying music there, while choir soloists will be sopranos Brenda Luka and Christine Wilson; contralto Monica Ver- meulen; and bassos, Norman Baldwin and Alexander Buchnea. Also at that time, five soloists - four from the choir - will be heard in solo passages from this great religious work. Organist will be Joseph Calverley of Richmond Hill United Church.
