Let school board build fenceâ€"mayor Council approved a subdivision plan in the Town of Markham, but refused to be fenced in by a proposal from York County Board of Education that required the developer to build a nine-strand page‘wire fence with gates on the street frontage on all sides of the school site. Council agreed that the subdivision agreement between the owner and the municipality “shall contain a provision for adequate fencing of the school site.†York Regional Council, which has often been accused of sitting on the fence, did its best last week to see that there wasn’t going to be one there to begin with. At least iï¬ the matter of school sites. The site covers 350 acres, between Warden, Steeles and 14th Avenues, and Birchmount Road. Expected population in the area is 2,500. Newmarket Mayor Bob Forhan led the fight. “If the board Wants to build a fence, let them do it,†he said. The school site was board property and it wasn’t the region’s responsibility to negotiate for the fence. SUNDAY. DECEMBER 4. 1977 ADVENT II 11:00 AM. Theme "The Man Who Bmught People To Jesus".
