C-8 â€" THE LIBERAL, Wednesday, December 2 No ordinary coffee c/atch Janet Collie, Don- namora Crescent, Thornhill, opened her home on Thursday morning for a coffee party for the Thomhill Newcomers Club. Perhaps it was because most "koffee klatches‘ are a normal 15 to 20 people. but this one seemed more like an invasion. as the group kept growing until J anet's spacious home was filled. And small wonder. Membership in this group numbers well over 100. Most of them tried to make it on this Thursday morning. Reports were given on the successful dinner and dance promoted by Muriel Currie and Lynn ‘Grant and the Christmas luncheon convened by Bernice Handley. The Thornhill Club is composed of the most active, energetic, co- operative and downright friendly members that could be found. Ellen Chenaux is the president of the Thornhill Newcomer's Club and seems to inspire and infect everyone with a spirit of fellowship. Membership Chairman is Susan Hogeboom, and due to someone’s productive efforts, (probably Susan‘s) her department is booming. Janet Collie has accepted the position of activities director. Thursday's coffee party featured the annual cookie exchange but the talk centred around the children's Christmas party at the Thornhill Community Centre. Many members volunteered to assist with this project. Lynn Lassman will look after the Couples Bowling. taking place on two nights; December 17 and January 21 at Pro Bowl. The Cross Country Skiing is Sylvia Hesby’s responsibility. A planning meeting for the “Gour- met’s Gourmet“ dinner will be held on January 9 at Susan Hogeboom's for the January 14 dinner.
