The absence check program is now in all area public and separate schools with the exception of Thornhill- Langstaff school. In addition to speaking to each class K-6 in every school at least once a year, there have been block parent weeks or fun fairs in many schools, involving poster contests, bingo games, block parent mapping contests, films, puzzles and word games. all of which were block parent oriented. Thomhill, one of 85 Block Parent Committees in Ontario, and one of 200 across Canada, boasts 770 Block Parents.
