Wednesday, May 10, 1978 Oak Ridges News Maintaining the quality of education in a time of restraint and low enrolment is the thrust of a brief the York County Board of Education sent to the Jackson Com- mission on declining enrolment. The report claims that while declining enrolment will be a short-lived problem in the region. there is a general over- reaction in most quarters that the quality of education must necessarily decline as well. In its recom- mendations, the brief asks the Ministry of Education to recognize areas of York Region which will be affected by declining enrolment for only short periods of time. It is hoped the same level of education that has existed in times of ex- pansion will also be maintained during periods of student shrinkage. Other recommendatâ€" ions in the brief include: a special weighting factor be introduced by the ministry, where there is enough population to provide increases in enrolment in a three-year period, to avoid tem- porary cutbacks in 0 HIGH FASHION FRAMES Lion Don Cook of Oak Ridges was one of three in the district invited to be a guest tail twister.
