Jackie Treadwell wins gymnastics 'I‘hirleen-year-old Jackie Treadwell of Rich- mond Hill was in fine form last week as she won the senior championship trophy as York Region held its first gymnastics meet at Richmond Hill Langslaff Secondary School. A total of 51 gymnasts competed from Rich- mond Hill and Aurora “Y” programs They competed in four events: Vault. Beam. Uneven bars and floor exercises and displayed good form and en- thusiasm for the events. The competitors were divided into three divisions: Junior Novice. intermediate Novice and Senior Novice. . The convener will be Bud Deering. and the Umpire and Chief will be Phillip Lusk. The secretarial duties will be performed by Nancy Lusk, while Fran Warner will serve as treasurer. Thé arduous job of publicity will be handled by Rickie Sanders. Town Auto Body and Richmond Hill Centre battled to a 28-28 draw in Richmond Hill Minor T- Ball play last week. Wayne Price and Sean Sullivan came up with homers for Town Auto. Sam Hollett and Ryan Robertson played well defensively for Centre. Allen Gauld and Jason Lockwood each went three for three including two homers apiece. James Gaade also homered. Other T-Ball play saw: Y.P.A. 29. Mr. Tran- smission 29. Jason Jackson was outstanding at bat for Y.P.A. hitting four home runs. Also homering for Y.P.A. were Jason H. and Richard. Good times at lawn bowling The Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club is still open for a limited number of members who enjoy some quiet outdoor exercise as well as competition Monday nights are points night for mixed bowling; Tuesday is Men‘s competition, Wednesday is reserved for Ladies’ competition; Thursday is mixed bowling and jitney; Friday is mixed bowling and points competition; Tfiat‘s the word from the club‘s executive. A number of special events will also be coming up during the summer starting June 13 with the start of club tournaments. The Men's Invitational Tournament will be held June 17. 7 Also on the agenda: June 25, Strawberry Festival; July 9, North vs South Challenge Match; July 23, Tin Can Trophy; August 27, Wine and Cheese Tournament; September 17. Anyone interested in seeking membership Queen girls win by 13-1 The Richmond Hill Dairy Queen girls travelled to Malton and overpower them 13 - 1. Kathy Chepelsky and Karen McInnis pitched an outstanding game with the aid of their team- mates to make the win look easy. “Mighty Mouse" McWatt led the team with three singles, one walk and a home run. Rhonda Maclnnis. Wendy Palmer and Lynda Bell were also spectacular at bat as they hit three for three. Dot Norman lined a long-awaited hqmerun The girls played host to their arch rivals, Burlington on Thursday night. The final score was a close 4 - 2 in favor of the big Pam Maclnnis threw well for the Hill striking out seven. This game was more of a defensive pitching duel. The big bats were not working for either team. Our two lone runs were scored by Suzie McWatt. But nonetheless, it was an exciting, tense game to watch. The girls play their next game against Malton at 6:30 Crosby Park on Thursday night. Hanson Flowers 23. Ramsey Rec. 14. Carol Querengesser went four for four for Hansons in- cluding a homerun. Linda Ross and Diane Alexson played a heads up game for Ramsey. INTERMEDIATE GIRLS Hilltop Bowling 25, Dairy Queen l8. Carol Anne Guyton was strong at bat for Hilltop going five for five including a grand-slam homer. Angela Guyton was also very effective going five for five. Lauretta Hollingsworth and Anne Marie hit a well for Dairy Queen. Record Shop 2|. Perry Hill 13. Rhonda Ramer connected for a triple and double for Record Shop as did Cathy Beck. Suzanne homered for Perry Hill. JUNIOR GIRLS Belhaven Turf 21. Rumble Transport 15. Christine Atkinson played an excellent game for the winners socking out a homer and catching a super pop fly. Melissa should drop over to the club quarters which are located in the Town Park just east of the arena. Membership fees are $15 for ladies; $25 for men; $35 for married couples; and $10 for juniors.
