At a meeting June 28, Mr. Saunders said he felt Richmond Hill council was “irresponsible" in passing a bylaw to prohibit the hydro towers proposed to cross Highway 7 at Yonge Street, in Thomhill. Hydro has provided Mr. Saunders with all information they have released so far per- taining to costs. “I’lf bring it up again at the August Board of Directors meeting,” said Mr. Saundggs. _ At that time he said he will ask his board to support his position and ask the town to rescind the bylaw. Folk music is popular in Mexico, but the young people there enjoy rock which is recorded only in English. Jeans are definitely “in” throughout Mexico, but Deyanira said she was surprised to see the way people parade to plazas in shorts and bathing suits. “It is so much more informal here,” she said. Richmond Hill Library has an art workshop for ages four to seven at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is necessary. Except for the freedoms allowed, Deyanira said she felt young people were pretty much the same. “In Meiico. one would not be allowed in without a date," she said. The schedule of meals and the types of food eaten in this country were differences the Mexican student also noticed. In Mexico they have breakfast and the big meal at noon or 2 pm. BLACK HAWK MOTOR INN (YONGE 8 ELGIN MILLS) In Markham a meeting has been arranged with hydro and the town’s works committee to dicusss the route of the towers through the Thornhill area. Mr. Saunders questions why the three municipalities have not joined together to bargain collectively with hydro. She also found it strange to see so many people eating canned foods. Most of the meals in her home are fresh, she said. One evening during her stay with the Fishers, Deyanira prepared “tostadas”. “Tostadas” consist of tortillas with beans, meat, cheese, letâ€" tuce, whipped cream, cheese and hot sauce. The Mexican students visited Niagara Falls, Ontario Place, Centre Island. Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons in Midland as well as having an extensive tour of Toronto. Deyanira found it difficult to adapt to having a big meal in the evening. “We were skepiical about the whipped cream,” she said. “but it actually‘blended the flavors.“ The return flight of Mexico City departs today at 10.30 am. Deyanira said she is sad in many ways to leave Canada, but feels it was a good personal ex- perience for all the students who participated. Mr. Saunders said he feels the positions taken by Vaughan and Markham are “obviously better" than a bylaw to prohibit the towers. Pauline Fisher said “tostadas” were good. “Why are the three municipalities â€" all with a common goal â€" all doing something different?” he said. ~Richmond Hill Recycling Depot, Elgin Mills and Leslie. 10 a.m. - noon.
