Legion midgets off to flying beginning The new look Richmond Hill Legion Midgets got their 1978-79 York Simcoe Hockey League season off on a scoring start blasting Aurora 7-2 and Newmarket 11-4‘ “I just hope they maintain that pace," commented coach Rainer Weidenfelder who has moved up from the minor midgets of last year to coach the squad. Rod Chapman opened the scoring for Richmond Hill from Dave Buckley and Jim Cartwright after 15 minutes of play. Dave Olson scored the second goal when he took a pass from goalie Blair Robson and skated the length of the ice to fire a perfect shot into the top of the net. The second period belonged to Chapman as he scored two goals and set up another by Pat Goode. Dave Olson and Dennis Buck picked up the assists on Chapman‘s goals. York got two fast goals at the beginning of the third period before Jim Lawson and Gerry Caume scored with assists to Dave Sephton and Barry Pollard. Lawson then scored from Dave Buckley and Pavio Sephton before the period ended. Rod Chapman opened the scoring from Pat Goode after only 20 seconds of the game. Oakville tied it but Terry Legge got that one back from Gerry Caume and Jim Lawson. Richmond Hill's next home game is today (Wednesday) at 10:30 am. in the Richmond Hill Arena.
