Great bowling day for Hill Tykers Oak Ridges Novices won two lopsided vic- tories against teams from Maple last week in York Minor Hockey League skirmishes. Tie Gormley Sand & Gravel-sponsored Little G o a l i e s K e i t h McQuarrie and Stephen Smith were a pretty hot combination for the Oak Ridges Peewees last week as they came up with back-to-back shutouts in York Simcoe hockey play. Goalies shine for Ridges By MATT THOMPSON It was a great bowling day at ABC Bowl for the Tykes with David Surowiec leading the way with an excellent 136 single and a 271 double. Other good singles were shot by Craig Gilles (112), Stephen Rozinka (103), and Glen Murphy (101). High doubles were turned in by Glen Murphy (161). Craig Gilles (198) and Jason Positano rolled a 179 for two games. For the girls it was Lesley Fantin shooting a great 136 single and 227 double. Kathy Smith was second with an 85 single, 168 double Tracy Monahan scored a 148 for two games. In the Bantam division it was Gary Kehoe leading the pack for the boys as he shot a 192 single and a 465 triple. John Surowiec also turned in a good score of 173. Oak Ridges Novices win big, big High triples were turned in by Scott Rice (442), Michael Connolly (430), Tim Gibbens (404) and Jim Hughes (403). Greg Byer rolled an excellent 254 single and a great 694 triple for the juniors'division. Mark Dimpfel was next with a 193 single, 3 531 triple. Chris Pescador also shot a nice triple with 522‘ Sherri Miller was high for the girls with a 172 single and a 434 triple. Donna Freedland rolled a 162 single and Michelle Byer shot a nice triple of 416. Dunkers, Hoopers In first 0n the girls side it was Sue Campbell rolling three excellent games 8-2 â€" THE LIBERAL. Wednesday. November 8. 1978 Doug's Dunkers and The Hoopers are both tied for first place as a result of wins last week in York Region Family YMCA Men's Basketball League play. It was strictly a one- sided battle last Wed- nesday as Doug‘s Dunkers bombed The Misfits 67â€"35 with team captain Doug Hancey shotting for 17 of those points. Gino Foglioto and Don Moss proved impossible to beat on defence while Gino also played a strong game offensively as well. The Misfits had their hands full the whole game but did manage to get 35 points thanks to the strong inside shooting of Stan Snider and outside help from Peter Friedâ€" man and Greg Gates. The second game saw the Hoopers downing R.H.M.D,‘s. The first half of the game was very wide open with very few fouls while the second half of the match proved to be very controlled for the Hoopers. It was the deadly duo of Dave Mercher with 20 points and Dave Waller with 17 points that did most of the damage for the winners. Craig' Stoness played extremely well at guard turning the ball over many times. The'éarfies saw Oak For RfH.M.D.'s it was Keith Brown doing most of the damage with 12 points with lots of help from Mike Gorman and Sante Maiuri on defence. Team Doug’s Bunkers The Hoovers The Misfits R‘H.M.D.'s Games are played every Wednesday night at 7:30 pm. and 9:30 p.m.. at Bayview Secondary School. Admission is free, visitors welcomed.
