Williams of Aurora in the finals of the northern division by 10‘ Despite the loss. Arbuckle was delighted with the show his team made all season in win ning eight games, losing only one, and tying one: “We had a number of chances to score in the second half,“ said Bayview coach John Arbuckle. "but we just couldn't beat the Williams goalie. Leading the scoring way again was Saskia Vriend as she notched another personal high in St. Robert‘s 65-56 win over Richmond Hill High. again Saskia popped in no fewer than 37 points, her most ever. to lead the team. Andrea Korchinski had 12 points while Joan Barton came up with some great defensive work grabbing off rebounds. Earlier it was St. Robert's downing Langstaff Secondary School of Richmond Hill 49â€"36 in a very aggressive game wilh, yes. Saskia leading the way with 17 points. Korchinski followed with nine points. Sandy MacDonald got seven points and also played a strong defensive game. Jolynn Ayott led the winners with 14 points while Laurie Andrejicka had 12 points. The win clinched a playoff berth for the girls {or the second year in a row. Thornhill finished first, Markham. second. St. Robert’s third. St. Robert's other victory was a 38-16 triumph over Thornhill Secondary with Vriends accumulating 12 points and Sophie Brown 8. The team‘s regular schedule record is now 9- 2. But we just put it all together.“ HERE'S HOW Here's how the big event happened. The roundrobin series saw St‘ Robert‘s open against Parry Sound on a low-key note losing the first game 18-16 but coming back to take the second one 15-10. Then came the second round and St. Robert‘s was gung-ho all the way taking ()rillia District High School 15-8 and 15-4. The third round pitted them against a tough Barrie Eastview squad with the latter team taking the first encounter 15-12 and St. Robert’s pulling out the second one by the same scorer DRAMA Then came the most dramatic confrontation of the roundrobin for St. Robert‘s as they met Woodbridge who had beaten them in three games in the regular league playoffs. This one almost looked like a repeat in the first game as Woodbridge led 13-5 at one point only to have St. Robert's rally to win 16-14. It was just no competition in the second game as St. Robert‘s won going away by 15-3. Ste Robert‘s ended up first in the roundrobin with ()rillia second. Barrie third, Woodbridge fourth. and Parry Sound fifths St. Robert‘s met ()rillia “We had a lot of moral support from our cheerleaders,“ said St. Robert‘s met (mum in the finals and beat them two straight games 15â€"10. 15-4 to come home with all the laurels.
