Each week people gather to see the demonstrations of spinning and pottery making and to enjoy the delicious teas, which include scones served with a variety of home made jams. The hours are from 1:30 to 4 pm. The Guild Hall is now resting on its new foun- Craft classes: in Burr House are once again gaining in popularity, and the craft committee is now planning another three week needlework class scheduled for the near future. FUND RAISING DANCE The students of St. Charles Garnier School on Castle Rock Drive are busy organizing a dance for adults to be held in their school gymnasium on Saturday, November 18from8230p.m.tola.m. The Guild Hall is now resting on its new foun- dation and conversion for use by the potters. spinners and weavers is now underway. Burr House popularity soars' with Crafts and teas for all RichmOnd Hill South They have arranged a display of election materials in the rear lobby of the Wright Street Library, and the staff has compiled a binder of all newspaper clippings, background material and pictures of all the candidates LIBRARY For anyone who still isn’t sure who‘s who and who’s doing what in the election campaign, maybe the Rich- mond Hill Library can help. Displayed in the showcase at the Richmond Hill Public Library during the month of Novemb'er will be ‘a variety of antique hand-stitched samplers from the 1777 to 1880 era. One entitled ‘Rules for Children' you may find of particular interest, although not many of the rules apply to the youth of today. Refreshments will be served after the meeting in the cafeteria, directly across the hall. Several others are shown depicting the work of both students and adults of that era, and lovers of antiquity should enjoy seeing this display. RUMMAGE SALE The Richmond Hill Lions Minor Atom Soccer Team is in need of money to send the boys to a tournament in Miami in December. and they will hold a rummage sale to raise some o‘f it All auxiliary memebers are invited to attend and bring a friend. This is the night the Junior Auxiliary members are honored for their service. York Central Hospital Auxiliary will hold its general open meeting tomorrow, November 9 starting at 8 p. m. in the lecture hall at the hospital. The meeting is scheduled for November 14 at 8 pm. and for a good look into what these people do it is a meeting worth attending. HOLLYBERRY BAZAAR The ladies of St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church invite everyone to attenu tucu Hollyberry Bazaar on November 18 from 11am. to 3 pm. 7 Festive decorations and crafts will be only some of the featured items. Other features will include beautiful dried flower arrangements. ideal for that gift for someone special. This {ale is a little unusual in that it will be held on a Sunday, November 19 from 10 am. to 5 pm: The location will be the Lions Hall on Centre Street in Richmond Hill. ONE PARENT FAMILIES The One Parent Families Association will hold a general meeting at the Thornhill Community Centre at Bayview Avenue at John Street. Richmond Hill Central Hospital auxiliary to honor juniors Music will. be provided by an orchestra and a buffet will be featured. Tickets at $5 per person CHRISTMAS BAZAAR AND LUNCHEON The Anglican Church Women of St. Mary‘s Anglican Church will hold their Christmas Bazaar and Luncheon next Saturday, November 18 from noon to 3 . Booths this year will feature The Christmas Trim Shoppe, Country Market. Doll Boutique and much more. BAZAAR WITH A DIFFERENCE A bazaar with a difference is being planned by the ladies of St. Mary Immaculate Church in Richmond Hill. Patients from the Villa Hospital will be attending, and any other serious ill person in the parish as well as those over 65 are invited. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 18 from 10 am. to 2 pm. and will include a sit down luncheon Several draws will be part oi" the program. Of special interest will be a dranr on hand crocheted creche figurines, another on an afghan and still another on a lighted ceramic Christmas tree. Fourteen members of the newly formed Youth Corps at St. Mary Immaculate Church joined with 300 others from Toronto and other areas in the province to spend an Awareness Day at a retreat house in Sharon, Ontario last Sunday. ' These young people hope to meet at St. Mary’s every other Sunday starting November 12. For times, please call 884-1784. MASS FOR THE SICK A special Mass for the Sick will be celebrated at St. Mary’s November 12 at 4 pm. After the Mass, there will be a ceremony of Annointing of the Sick. BAZAAR SUCCESS The Richvale seniors had a very successful bazaar last week, and they would like to thank all those who helped to make it so The winner of the quilt was Mrs. W. Johnson, 112 Kirk Drive. Thornhill with ticket number 554. The quilt was hand made by the late Mrs. Carrie Reid of Bathurst Street. The afghan, made by Mrs. Dorothy Marshall of Garden Avenue, was won bv Brenda Landrv of CATHOLIC YOUTH Halifax, Nova Scotia. She had ticket number 221. A large box of groceries donated by the Richvale seniors was won by Marg Gladding of Fairview Avenue. Her ticket number was 191. TRAVELOGUE The second in a series of films sponsored by the Richmond Hill Rotary Club will be shown on Tuesday, November 16 at Bayview Secondary School in the auditorium starting at 8 pm. Thisifilm iis en‘titled ‘Sweden a Midsummer Dream’. Series tickets are still available and you may get yours at the door. TOY LIFT Richmond Hill United Church will repeat its successful ‘Toy Lift’ program. where toys or gently used games and clothing will be sent to a Children's home at Maxfield Park, Jamaica. All clothing contributed must be suitable for wear in the tropics and must be for children from birth to 12 years of age. All items may be left at the church office or in a box in the front of the church. The church would appreciate receiving all donations during the month of November so they will arrive in Jamaica in time for Christmas. For more information, call Fay Conville at 884-2750. UNITED CHURCH Richmond Hill United Church women will hold their annual Christmas bazaar and luncheon tomorrow, November 9 from 10:30 a. m. until 3 p. m. The Come and Go Luncheon has three seating times, 11:15, 12:15 and 1:15. Luncheon tickets are $2.50 and are available at the church office by calling 8844301. The bazaar will feature Christmas decorations, a vagiety of craft and gift items and much more. YOUNG LIFE The Young Life Association will hold a fund raising dinner tonight, November 8 at Don Head School. The bazaar schedule is such a heavy one at this time of the year that the ladies at St. Matthew’s United Church decided to be a little different and hold theirs at night. The festivities will be this Friday night. November 10 from 7 to 9 pm. and there will be something for everyone. ' The youngsters will be entertained at a free puppet show put on by ad- venturous 15 year old Brian Mitchell, who will be assisted by Margaret Smith. Both young people are Rich- mond Hill residents. SKATING CLUB Bond Lake Skating Club will hold badge test day tomorrow, November 9 starting at 4:30 pm. Each skater is required to wear his or her colored patch denoting level. The winners at the recent evening euchre were Walter Paxton. Grace McNeill, Robbie Cook, Cheryl Carter and Annie Phillips. The next afternoon euchre will be November 15 at 1:30 pm. Admission is 35 cents per person. and everyone is welcome. The ladies of the Wheelhouse Club have been gathering each Wednesday from 10 am. to 3 pm. to work on the quilt, but if a euchre is scheduled, the work day will be changed to Tuesday that week. Preparations are well underway for the bazaar to be held at the Wheelhouse Club December 2. Members of the club are pleased to hear that Eleanor Elspeth is home from the hospital, and they wish her a speedy recovery. SENIORS
