Someone informs me that the CFGM Bull Shooters will be playing the Canada Dry Winko’s at Richmond Hill Arena next Sunday night from 8 to 9:30 pm. All proceeds will go to ARC Industries of Richmond Hill. Sounds like a lot of fun for a great cause. Be there. Some short items here before I succumb to my ailments. Tickets are available at Century 21, Black 8; Stewart Realty, CFGM Radio Station, Galaxy Tavern (Richmond Heights Plaza). NEW LEAGUE What else can you say? The team will be playing in a new league (still being formed) called the South Central Junior League. It does occur to me that it’ll seem very strange in not having a Vern Dynes-sponsored major fastball men's team around after all these years. CASEY But don‘t get me wrong. There will be a men‘s fastball team going strong and with Russell “Casey” Cripps leading the charge. A toothache reduces my manly dignity to tattered shreds. I break out into all kinds of whimpering, moans, groans, and try to find a dark corner to crawl into. Please, please make it go away. It’s just been announced that Dynes Jewellers, under Vern Dynes, will be sponsoring the Richmond Hill Junior Softball Club this season. Vern has quite an executive going for him with the juniors this season and will comprise such people as Mack Clement. Sid Moreland, Bill “Skip” DeGeer, Ross MacMillan. Herb Walton and Angus Philip. I should be given a purple heart or Cross of Lorraine medal or something for just showing up today. For the simple reason I have a nagging toothache. It's starting to feel better already so I‘d better get at what’s left of January. January? Hey, it’s almost over. An even greater thought to celebrate these wintry days is the softball scene in Richmond Hill which will be undergoing some changes. That‘s certainly good news for junior ball around here. Mainly because in the past few seasons the juniors have been lucky just to even get off the ground let alone be contenders for anything. With a sponsor like Verb behind them, hopes are high the juniors will attract a lot of good ball players from the area. Most of the above names are known to local ball fans and especially that of Angus who. among other things, was connected with old Dynes Jeweller fastball teams for some 14 years. I‘m referring, of course. to the senior and junior men‘s fastball league here. I‘m a coward when itreorfies to small aches and pains. I’d much prefer to rush out and take on the world in bloody, two-listed combat than stay home and have a toothache.
