Gord Barry. who has coached Canadian national teams, is as skilled a teacher as you are ever likely to get the chance to watch. He is full of good ideas and suggestions. But he does not spend his time just talking. He put his pupil~coaches through the ingenious. tried-and-p« roven successful drills that they will. in turn. put their players through this summer. In this he is assisted by George Barr whose triumph in the Florida Junior Soccer Orange Bowl Tournament in December may indicate what a coaching clinic can do for you. Incredibly in this day and age, the talents that Gord and George are pouring into the clinic are unpaid for. They do it because they enjoy doing it. In' amateur soccer, on the other hand. this kind of dedication is not all that rare The coaches who are attending the clinic will be working with teams all through the summer, without pay, and sometimes without thanks. But they will enjoy its Although Frank Briggs found himself with more coaches than the clinic could comfortably handle. he could certainly use more coaches. ,An increase in the number of boys and girls registering is expected in 1979‘ There were 655 boys and girls registered in 1978.
