About 20 residents of the Uplands area, af- fected by Hydro’s plans to build towers, came to the meeting and several voiced their displeasure. “ I don’t think our area deserves towers," said one woman, “tell Hydro to forget it." Vaughan ’Council was going to use a 65-foot height restriction bylaw to limit the towers but decided it was to their advantage to tie the height and distance motions together. Lorna Jackson was one of the most vocal coun- cillors opposing the tower construction. She wants the three southern municipalities to work together against Hydro. Councilloi Pool said the affect of any Council bylaw in this case should be to get Hydro to look at a set of technical alterâ€" natives, Council has already met with Premier William Davis on the matter and is waiting for a' full report from him The underground wire alternative has been studied and would cost an estimated $200-million more than above ground linesi Town passes hydro bylaw Among other items on the lengthy agenda were Vaughan‘s regional road costs‘ the construction of a sign by Steehild Investments Limited and THE LIBERAL, Wednesday.
