Since the reunion will be held as part of the Town Anniversary celebrations. you will Block Parents outline their 1978 activities We are pleased to have over 900 Block Parent homes in the Thornhill area. including an active committee in the new ('ostain Willowbrook Development east of Bayview. We had hoped to have a fall garage sale in order to raise money for several cherished projects. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled as we could not find a place to hold it that would cost less than $200. However, we did have a (lold Jewellery Sale with Maison D‘()r Jewellery at the home of Past President Carol Andrews. and received a comâ€" mission of $140.68, from them which will nearly cover the cost of two members attending the annual Block Parent (‘onference to be held in Hamilton in May. During the last few months of 1978 we have received donations amounting to $515 which included $150 from the Thornhill Recycling Depot; $100 from the Vaughan Rotary Club. $25 from Witco Chemical Company and $100 from the Thornhill Kinsmen Club. For these most generous donations we are most grateful. We also had donated a very beautiful floral arrangement from the Thornhill Florist and a superb cake from the Miracle Mart at Markham Place Mail for the German Mills School punch party. Since September new educational material and the Block Parent record have been distributed to all schools and a display was set up at the Thor- nhill Festival. The York Regional Police Safety Bureau and the school Block Parent committees have been into all our schools to remind those children entering school this year about Block Parent Homes. We were very pleased to find that even those children entering school this year were aware of the Block Parent Program. The 1979 Executive was installed on Monday. January 8. at the Thor- nhill Presbyterian Church. who have very generously lent their premises to us for our meetings. Kathryn Hall and Janet (‘rane are retiring as Co- Chairpersons. Mrs. C. McDonald. 38 Maryvale Cres. Thornhill Majority fifth annual skate sharpening day. All the money raised will go to medical research. Vic and his family have our heartfelt thanks for donating their time and equipment to The Society. We extend our thanks to Bill Harris. Hank Kuyt. Bob King. Peter Koutroumpis. Stan Allen of Doust Lalonde Inc.. who donated hockey posters and stayed all day handing them out. To Joanne Smith who sent in goodies for the volunteers. To the Pop Shoppe who for the second year trusts town’s council Various letters defending or accusing members of our Council appear every week in the local newspapers. I‘d like to point out that some people send in letters not so much because they are con- cerned about the future of this town, but merely because they have a lot of free time to write them. In my opinion the Council elected through our democratic process, represents the majority of votors and Richmond Hill residents (35.000). So often only a small and irrelevant minority get involved in everything coming up; but the silent vast majority believes in the members of our Council to take proper action and responsibility towards the future of the Town of Richmond Hill. That shows trust and common sense. Silvio Tachella. 292 Rumble Avénue Richmond Hill supplied us with coupons for cases of pop. To The Liberal who has given us advance publicity. To Sneaky Pete â€" Newmarket. and The Dairy Queen in Richmond Hill for food vouchers for a lucky draw. To the businessmen and friends and all of the people who dropped into the store on skate day. And last. but certainly not least. to Ron Knight of (‘FGM who hosted a one and a half hour talk show on Arthritis to boost skate day and for greeting customers at Vic‘s Shoe Repair on Skate Day.
