Program Director Gwen Halliday. said the Y has planned a full day winter break program March 19 to 23 for boys and girls aged 6 to 12. The Family Y in Richmond Hill seems to be the only organization in the area geared to help out working parents for the upcoming March Break. Wednesday the group will go back to the Y centre in the morning for “Winter Games“ and the afternoon will be spent at Centennial pool for water events of the winter games. The unit is owned by Seabreeze Pool Products of Scar- borough and had $100,000 worth of damage done to it in the resulting fire. Markham Fire Department attended the scene but the cause has not been determined. RITES 0F SPRING On March 2 at 12: 30 pm. York Regional Police received a radio call with reference to an in- decent exposure on South Taylor Mills Drive in Richmond Hill. Upon arrival, the officer saw a man running westbound on South Taylor Mills Ain the ane.' He was apprehendea and taken to York Central Hospital, where he was committed under the Mental Health Act. BREAK-IN ATTEMPT FELL _ THROUGH Between February 23, at 5 pm. and February 27 at 7:30 a.m., an east-side bay door at Sunrise Auto Electric on Newkirk Road in Richmond Hill was pried off its track. IRONING OUT PROBLEMS On February 24 at 1:30 am. a vehicle entered the property of Reynolds Extrusion on Edward Street m Richmond Hill. The driver threw a tire iron at an office window causing $400 damage. The suspect vehicle is described as a red or orange Camaro or firebird with a white stripe. CHARGEX ACCEPTED Town seeks to disband York Land Division Committee In order to provide residents of Richmond Hill with more effective service regarding land severance applications town council passed a resolution Monday asking the government to disband the regional Land Division Committee. At the last council meeting in February Councillor Lou Wain- wright gave notice that he intended to introduce such a motion. At that time Councillor Wainwright said he had received complaints regarding the time necessary to process land severances and he would like to see jurisdiction on these planning decisions back in the municipality â€"â€" where it belongs. Last Monday evening at the regular council meeting Councillor Wainwright also ex- pressed some concern for the fact that only one member of the nine member committee actually visited the site in question each time. on the Land Division Conimittee said Coun- cillor Wainwright‘s comments had a certain validity. but not to the extent of the criticism.
