Richmond Hill was the first Minor Atom team from Richmond Hill to reach the finals and can be proud of the hockey that they have played to get that far. Both Barrie and Rich- mond Hill were scoreless at the end of the first period and it wasn't until the halfway mark of the second that Barrie put in its first goal. Evergreens Bobby Cook scored Richmond Hill‘s only goal with 1:23‘ left in the period. Assists went to Brian Hunt and Danny Jensen. Barrie scored the winning goal at 5:51 of the final period on a power play and then fired in the clincher three and a half minutes later. Richmond Hill fought back in the third period putting the pressure on the Georgetown goalie a number of times. It was to no avail, however, as Georgetown was able to score an insurance goal midway through the third period. Richmond Hill 4. Georgetown 2. Richh- mond Hill look a two-goal lead in the first period on scores by Dave McKee from Dave Pollock and Angelo D‘Angelis; and Pat Mulcahy from Bruce Smith and Dave McKee Georgetown struck back quickly in the second with two goals 13 seconds apart to tie the game at 2-2. Mulcahy got the winner just six seconds after the second Georgetown tally from Bruce Smith. Less than a minute later, Dungey scored the in- surance goal on a perfect pass from Mike Rae. The game turned into a defensive struggle after that scoring binge with neither team scoring for the remainder of the game. Richmond Hill 4. G e o r g e t o w n 3 . Georgetown opened the scoring quickly with a goal at 10 seconds of the firs period. Richmond Hill evened the score just 59 seconds later with Bernie Wintjes scoring on a sharp angle shot. The assist went to Mike Rae. Georgetown took ’ the lead again at the end of the first period but it was for the last time. Mulcahy. after some fine puck handling. fired a hard shot home from the slot to even the score at 2-2 shortly before the end of the second period. Later on it was Dave McKee feeding Mulcahy a beautiful pass and he went in to score. Dungey then took a perfect pass from Hubrick, rounded the Georgetown defence. deked the goalie, and scored. Georgetown scored once in the third period but Richmond Hill dominated the play for the rest of the game.
