A Morning ()ut. Rich Wednesday TUESDAY ommunlty broaden their vocabularies and work on pronunciation. Last Thursday, for example, students cut out birds (les oiseaux) from construction paper and figured out how to fold them properly using French instruction from their teacher. There were times when a few words of English crept back into the conversation, but nobody’s perfect. “The idea is to have the students follow some instructions in French â€" things we would not normally have time for in regular class or else we’re limited with because there’s just too many kids in one class for these things,” said Mr. Gebhardt. it, ” sai Wilkinson ilmnten service St. Paul's raremsmgm Lutheran. 8 p.m. REGULAR EVENTSI “If we don’t like it, then we’re not forced to show up.” “We come because we like ” said 10-year-old Terry Wednesday March 21, 1979 K‘urtain Up at Hillcrest. Last week we did a short play and played charades in French.” True to his word, some of his pals snuck out of the club a few minutes early. “Some of the younger kids actually have an advantage over the older ones who are just starting, because they have already had a year or two of French,” said Mr. Gebhardt. After the classroom was littered with paper birds, the teachers organized a quick game of French hangman. This was clearly a club favorite. The club, which began last October, looks so successful it didn‘t seem to matter to the kids who had more French than whom. 28 Richmond Hill Library annual film festival Mon., May 14.
