Epic Realty takes York Simcoe tit/e Richmond Hill Epic Realty won the York Simcoe Juvenile championships when they defeated Newmarket in the fifth game of the playoffs after losing the first two games. The Richmond Hill Aquatic Club acquitted itself very well at the recent Cindy Nicholas Dyn-oâ€"mite Invitational Swim Meet in Scarboro recently. In the 11 to 12«year old category, Janet Davidson won a bronze medal in the 200 Backstroke, and a fourth place ribbon in the 100 Back, while Janet Evans took fourth place ribbons in the 100 Breast and the 200 Breast. SchMer doesit Frank Bruhn won five medals â€" a gold in the 200 metre Back, silvers in the 100 Fly, 200 Breast. and the 200 I.M., a bronze in the 100 Breast, a fourth place ribbon in the 200 The Richmond Hill Aquatic Club staged its annual swim-a-thon Sunday at Centennial Pool. The first swimmer to finish was Jason Clarke, 7. who swam 50 lengths 11250 metres) in 37 minutes‘ Christine Bogie swam 302 lengths in the two- hour time limit, 22 more than last year, and just short of the Club record of 324 lengths. Mayor David Schiller. an honorary member of the Club. 'swam 40 lengths. an admirable achievement for someone not in full training as a swimmer. Ray Jackson. a totally blind swimmer, who swam with the club Sunday morning, put in 150 lengths as he con- ditions himself for the upcoming Handicapped Regional championships in Toronto. All together. 25 swimmers between the ages of 6 and 21 swam from 50 to 200 lengths to raise about $2,500 for the Club. To all those who sponsored a swimmer, many thanks. When the swimming was all over, the swim- mers and their parents and friends. who recorded their lengths, celebrated with a most satisfying lunch at the Ponderosa Steak House on Yonge Street. Swim well but Epic came back to win the final three games 1-0, 3-2 and 6-4. The fifth and final game was played at Richmond Hill and was a penalty- ridden match with both teams playing with only three men on the ice for most of the third period. The visitors scored just before the period ended but Epic came back in the second period to tie it on a Elizabeth Smith placed second. and in the 15 and over 200 Medley Relay, Christine Bogie, Jackie Crockford, Leslie Foord and Ann Parnis placed fourth. Other members of the club taking part in the meet in individual and relay events were Bronwen Andrew, Evelyn Bogie, Jason Clarke. Shane Crockford, Susan White, Huw Andrew, Christine Bogie, Amber Ezechiels, Elizabeth Smith, Ann Parnis, and Susan Toporowski. This group of 18 swimmers, who improved almost all their individual times, gave the Club a sixth place finish out of 14 clubs competing, some of which had considerably more swimmers. Steve Bowers started things rolling when he scored an unassisted goal to cut Newmarket's lead to one goal. With both team playing three men aside it was Joslin tying the game from Joe] Reeves. WON There were just three minutes remaining when Pleschberger got the go ahead goal from Joslin. Newmarket pulled its goalie with one minute remaining in adesperate attempt to tie the game only to have Pleschberger score into the empty net with 22 seconds remaining. The Richmond Hill Cadillac Baif Peewee A‘s lost a 3-0 game to Orillia Tuesday night of last week in the fourth game of their playoff series with that team. Baif peewees lose Newmarket 4.
