The callers knew the woman works at Hillcrest Mall and are familiar with her physical description. On August 14, 1978, several reports describing a similar mode of operation were received from the same mall. AIRCRAFT MISSING FROM MAPLE On January 28 a Cessna 172 E four-seater airplane. licence CF-XCJ, serial number 172512207, was stolen from Maple Airport. The plane is green and white and is worth between $10,000 and $20,000. It was being held by the Sheriff’s Department of York County, 391 University Avenue, Toronto. THE JET THAT NEVER WAS During the month of August, 1978, Russell O’Neill of Garson, Ontario, bought a hoverjet from a company at 55 Glen Cameron Road in Thornhill. He issued a cheque for $2,500 as a down payment and the machine was to be delivered in October, 1978. In all cases, entry was gained to the premises by using a crowbar. OBSCENELY CONNED A female employee of the Hillcrest Mall received a call at her home at about 7 pm. on April 24 from someone claiming to be a Metro Toronto Police Officer. He said he was in- vestigating obscene phone calls and asked that she participate in one to help with the in- vestigation. Another man came on the phone and made numerous obscene and suggestive com- ments. HABERDASHER LOSES HIS SHIRT Bewteen April 23 at 11:30 pm. and April 24 at 9:30 am. David Temple Gentlemen’s Clothier on Main Street North in Markham was entered by forcing the doorâ€"lock cylinder with a pair of pliers. It was never built. Mr. O’Neill visited the suspect company‘s premises but was told they were no longer there. Numerous other victims are being questioned and the investigation is continuing. PERSISTENT PASTOR At about 1 pm. on April 24, an elderly man entered the Central United Church on Main Street in Unionville and stole a tape recorder and two microphones from an office. The Minister saw the suspect leaving the building and chased him. He caught the thief and managed to recover the tape recorder. The assailant ran off with the two mikes. The recorder is worth $40. The suspect in the case is described as male, white, 55-years-old, 5’7â€, weighing 140 pounds and having grey hair and a reddish complexion, wearing a grey blazer, olive green shirt and brown pants. ' A quantity of suits, pants, cash and jewelry worth $26500 was stolen. Between April 26 at 4:30 pm. and April 27 at 9 a.m., $100 in cash was stolen from a file cabinet in the office of St. Mary's Anglican Church on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill. Police have no suspects. At 12:30 a.m., the suspect was taken to York Central Hospital for treatment of a broken collar bone and nose after apparently falling down stairs at his home. He made good an escape from the x-ray department of the hospital but was re-arrested at 3 am. on Bathurst Street. After an investigation, York Regional Police arrested a 35-year-old Toronto man for armed robbery at 10 pm. the same night.
