Monday night Spring Mills Estates lawyer Ron Biderman asked Rich- mond Hill Council members to reaffirm their decision to support the estate residential subdivision proposed for Bayview Avenue below Gormley Sideroad and indicate their satisfaction to a new plan. The stormy six-year history of this issue in- cludes many official plan amendment approvals and rescinded decisions by Richmond Hill council. Monday‘s meeting was characteristic with the issue causing a heated exchange with frayed tempers and out-ofâ€"order comments. Last February council decided to approve the land designation of "estate residential" and the amendment went to the region for approval. The plan received regional approval. slightly altered. and now goes to the Ontario Municipal Board (0MB). The 0MB rejected the application in January of this year. Spring Mills Estates is now asking the OMB to reopen the hearings. based on the changed W§$WM££W§ ’3 @1112 tn@lui % DIRECTORY OF RELIG mmam‘x‘ 6’; 9:45 am 11.a.m. All alterations, repairs or new work. Council members were split on the decision to support. with some feeling because the proposed subdivision went against the official plan it would cast doubts about the new plan. and consequently‘ it was better to support the official plan now and consider the subdivision at a later time. Councillors Mike Bumie and John Birchall were upset because Rich- mond Hill had not seen the new plan approved by the region. before it went to the OMB. Councillor Birchall maintained the town had “an obligation to uphold the policy of the official plan". With obvious indignant resignation. Councillor Al Duffy said. “obviously we don‘t care about the planning process in the town“. Councillor Lou Wain- wright strongly urged the matter be cleared up without further delay and ('ouncillor Gord Rowe felt town planning staff should have studied the new plan when it ap- peared on regional minutes.
